Whether Snow, Rain, or Mud

We’ve been passing the time, rain or shine. The dollhouse has been a hit.
DSC_1730
There’s been lots of playdough.
DSC_1742
And trips down “Robinson Hill”.
DSC_1748
Thea drags his sled back up for him, every time.
DSC_1751
Sometimes she insists on doing homework in the bathroom, while I do my makeup.
DSC_1758
She put on a show for everyone in the cafe at the bookstore.
DSC_1764
While Finn eyed up the collection of Star Wars travel mugs.
DSC_1767
The day after the snow, it was melting and especially “fast”, even with the grassy spots.
DSC_1769
She used a stick to write her name in the snow over and over again.
DSC_1775
They gleefully whacked at the windchimes, hanging from the tree.
DSC_1776
Tried making snow angels.
DSC_1778
She vamped for the camera.
DSC_1780
And perfected her ride on the tire swing.
DSC_1782
While Finn obsessed about the windchimes.
DSC_1783
Inside, we set up a valentine-making work station in the basement.
DSC_1796
And she wrote valentines to her friends.
DSC_1804
At Arooga’s, the server waited patiently while Thea read her order from the menu.
DSC_1814
The next morning, she was thrilled that her new rainbow heart tattoo matched the rainbows on her jammies.
DSC_1818
Finn and Thea put together their latest wonderful Kiwi crate projects. The topic of the month was “Rainbow Optics” and it involved mixing colors, fingerlights, shadows and prisms. Truly awesome.
DSC_1825DSC_1828DSC_1831
The “Rainbow Optics” even included a make-your-own stained glass picture.
DSC_1836
Later, downstairs, Thea built a Lego zoo.
DSC_1842
They watched “The Secret Life of Pets”.
DSC_1844
And Thea wasn’t sure about the big brown dog, Duke.
DSC_1846
She demonstrated how tasty her ice cream valentines smelled.
DSC_1853
She was thrilled to have beets for dinner because they turn her poop pink.
DSC_1855
They played “mom and dad” with Nessie the Cabbage Patch Kid (but Finn didn’t want to be photographed).
DSC_1859
When we got home from school the next day, they raced over to the muddy playground.
DSC_1860DSC_1861
We closed the place.
DSC_1863DSC_1867DSC_1868
And Jason came home and turned Finn upside down.
DSC_1870
The following day, they opened wonderful goodie bags delivered to our front door by the Valentine Fairy (aka Grandma Deanna).
DSC_1873
There were heart-shaped soft pretzels (for dinner)!
DSC_1875
And Thea took her candy seriously.
DSC_1879
On Valentine’s Day morning, Thea made a special card for her teacher, while I did my makeup.
DSC_1881
Thea helped Finn deliver his valentine goodies to his classmates’ boxes.
DSC_1888DSC_1890DSC_1894DSC_1895DSC_1896
In the kindergarten classroom, Thea’s sign-in was predictable: “Draw 20 hearts and write the number 20”.  All the parents groaned lovingly.
DSC_1897
My family surprised me at work!
DSC_1901
They brought cards! (but weren’t sure about the ride downstairs in the squeaky, century-old elevator)
DSC_1903
During our valentine dinner at the Vegetable Hunter, Finn enjoyed the blocks (but not the almond milk, so much).
DSC_1910
At home, they finally got to open their valentine bag and box from school, and look at all the goodies from their friends.
DSC_1913
They opened their cards from Nana and Auntie Lala!
DSC_1922
And Thea gave him an affectionate goodnight smooch (she always turns away from the camera)
DSC_1929
This past Friday was ‘Third in the Burg’, and we ate pizza at the Broad Street Market.
DSC_1932
And ice cream from the Urban Churn.
DSC_1946
Jason hoped she’d share a bite.
DSC_1947
At home, she was all about “having a baby”.
DSC_1950DSC_1951DSC_1955
She’s about to lose another tooth!
DSC_1957
And suddenly we were back at the playground again, soaking in the rays before the next round of snow.
DSC_1958DSC_1960DSC_1962DSC_1965
The next day, Thea was off to a friend’s birthday party.
DSC_1967
And Finn opened his valentine card from Nonna and Baba, and was thrilled to see a puppy on the cover.
DSC_1968
Then, on rainy, chilly President’s Day, we passed some time at Skyzone, the indoor trampoline playground, and looked forward to the strange, 70-degree weather headed our way this week.
